Keeping Up with New Habits

I'm gonna get a little personal in this post but not too much.

I found recently that when I try to make new habits, I struggle with keeping up with them. Part of them is a personal issue but it's also because I start them, keep them for a bit, then life throws a curveball and I get thrown out of rhythm and don't get back into them. I recently spoke to one of my doctors about this and he recommended I keep a planner to help myself.

Now, I have a real personal dislike of date planners. When I was in middle and high school, they would force us to use date planners, even going around checking to see that we used them. I always got in trouble because I wouldn't have up-to-date assignment due dates or meetings in it. For the longest time after high school, I would stay away from date planners because I hated them so much. However, I found myself having trouble keeping track of new habits, even while I was trying project planners. After my doctor recommended the planner, I immediately tried to get out of it, saying I never kept up with them and I didn't find them helpful before. I was walking through a store shortly after, however, and found myself near planners. I decided that it wouldn't hurt to try it and got one.

Now, my planner doesn't solve all my habit commitment issues but it has been helpful recently. I found that I have been able to keep up with most of my projects and personal commitments. I ended up getting another planner for my normal job and found that it has been helpful there as well. I have fallen behind on a couple of things, but I tried to take on a lot of new habits at once, so I give myself leeway on those things I haven't kept up with. I also started using a reminders app on my phone for more daily habits I want to keep up with, which has also been helpful. I've been able to keep up with a lot of my habits recently.

Now, there have been some things that I am putting on the backburner due to other commitments but, as you can tell by my postings and website updates, I'm keeping up with a lot of my projects and my ideas more than I used to. My main issue is, like I mentioned earlier, curveballs make it hard to keep on track with my habits. I've been able to keep up with most of them afterwards but it's usually when I start a new week (Sundays). So my next task is to get right back on track after falling off without any delays.

Hopefully, this means my work going up on YouTube and Instagram will be consistent, unlike these blog posts. I do have other things happening but my plan is still to start uploading in March this year.

I'm excited to share my work with you guys and I hope you will like it.
