Let's Talk...

For my last few posts, I've usually had a point or subject for them. I couldn't figure out one lately. So, for this post, we're just gonna talk about whatever. It may seem a little sporadic at times, but welcome to how my mind works.
First, congratulations to the WGA for their new deal and achieving most of what they wanted (link below to what was in the tentative agreement). This comes amidst more strikes occurring, such as SAG-AFTRA and UAW. Despite the negative spin the media may put on these, I feel like these are a long time coming. So much change has happened in the last decade and the people who worked during those changes were adapting but not being properly compensated for their work that changed in the meantime. So, it is nice to see people standing up for themselves and being properly compensated for their work.

The next topic that comes to mind is the past month that impacted my own careers. I say careers because I have different things happening: I have an 8-5 career, a school career, and my creative career. First, in my 8-5 career, I received a lot of things to do, which kept me busy during those hours (can't discuss them, sadly). For my school career, I am back to in-person classes, which cuts into my learning time a bit. And I took my first vacation since starting my new job (I've been there for a little over a year and worked a lot of overtime 6 months in). So my creative career suffered a little bit, but I am getting back into the swing of things. I've caught up at work, almost caught up in school and come up with new ideas for my creative career, which will hopefully be shared with you all soon.
I also got my first tattoo! I had made a post on my Instagram about one of my cats dying and wanted to commemorate all my fur babies I had lost, so I got a cat paw and dog paw tattooed on my wrist. I do plan to get more tattoos, but not for a while.
For my next point, I've found myself practicing with short film scripts and rewriting some previous screenplays I had written. I've also been doing research for TV shows and films. Most recently, I've been doing research for a TV show I am creating called Crafters, based on Lovecraft's work and explores his controversies as well as his writings. I also have been doing research for UnFamiliar, which focuses on familiars and witches in witchcraft. So, I've been busy.
Segueing into the next point, why do I do so much research? I don't think that just because you are writing about a subject you are unfamiliar with means you get to skewer the current understandings of it. You can take creative liberties but that does not mean you get to completely ignore the basis and culture of a subject you are writing. I also don't want to perpetuate any negative tropes or stereotypes of anything I write about. I've said this in the About Me page on this site, but I believe that media plays a big role in how we perceive the world and how our children grow up believing and emulating certain aspects of film and television.
Well, I think this is long enough for this post, so I will end it here. Hopefully, this was interesting and if you like these kinds of posts, please let me know. See you soon!
